THE NATURE OF MYO

As
Nichiren Daishoni says in On Attaining Buddhahood
What
then does myo signify? It is simply the mysterious
nature of our lives from moment to moment, which the mind cannot comprehend nor
words express.---
Life
is indeed an elusive reality that transcends both the words and concepts of
existence and nonexistence. It is neither existence nor nonexistence, yet
exhibits the qualities of both. It is the mystic entity of the Middle Way that is
the reality of all things. Myo is the name given to
the mystic nature of life, and ho to its manifestations.---
Renge, the lotus flower, symbolizes the wonder of this Law. Once you
realize that your own life is the Mystic Law, you will realize that so are the
lives of all others. That realization is the mystic kyo,
or sutra.
In
The Gift of Rice Nichiren Daishonin says
The sutras which came before the Lotus Sutra taught that all
phenomena derive from one's mind. The mind is like the earth, and phenomena are
like the plants growing in the earth. But the Lotus Sutra teaches that the mind
is one with the earth and the earth is one with its plants. The provisional
sutras say that a tranquil mind is like the moon and a pure heart is like a
flower, but the Lotus Sutra states that the flower and moon are themselves
heart and mind. Therefore, it is obvious that rice is not merely rice but life
itself.
Once again it is the direct experience of reality which is
being explained
The movement
of the universe is ho and therefore "life." The fundamental force
that causes this movement is myo which also has the
meaning of "death
APPROACHES TO CONSCIOUSNESS
Myo encompasses all phenomena. Myo
represents the ninth Consciousness -The unchanging reality which reigns over
all life`s phenomena. It represents the fusion between
mind and body and all living beings and the Universe. It is the place of the
Full potential Self , the point of fusion between
objective and subjective, life and death , reason and intuition, particle and
wave Quantum and physics. If the scenes in the mirror are the ever changing
nature of our phenomenal lives and the potential is the evocation of these
images , then Myo is the mirror itself the integration
of the three truths and the middle Way.
In the
Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin
Every person no matter who they are or in what contextual reality they exist
and no matter what level of development emotionally or intellectually they may
be have the innate ability to attain the supraconscious
state of enlightenment. And this also applies to non living entities and
Galaxies and stars. In contradiction to Ken Wilbur`s
theories the practice of this Buddhism makes it clear that Enlightenment of a
high and pristine order of function is the basis of the living Universe which
is a self referential biological process -- a living conscious experience of
which we are a part
The book The Field by liz McTaggart describes
the work of frontier scientists across the globe whose revolutionary findings
challenged everything we have believed about how the world works. Modern
science portrays the human being as a mechanism largely powered by chemicals
and genetic coding. According to this view, the brain is a discrete organ and
the home of consciousness. Consciousness itself is also largely driven by
chemistry - the communication of cells and the coding of DNA. The mind of man
is isolated from his body and he, in turn, is isolated from his environment.According to this view, we aren't much more
than animated machines. Modern science has reduced us to our lowest common
denominator with a desolate vision of a genetic accident powered by chemicals, divided
from its world.
A new way
of thinking
The Field suggests a far
more expansive view of the world and living things like us. It demonstrates
that the essential communication mechanism of the universe is quantum frequency
connected by a giant matrix - a field of fields called the Zero Point Field
This pulsating energy field is the central engine of our being and our
consciousness. There is no 'me' and 'not-me'
duality to our bodies in
relation to the universe, but one underlying energy field. The Field is
responsible for our mind's highest functions, the growth of our bodies and the
force
that finally determines
whether we are healthy or ill. The Field may be key to
all information processing and exchange in our world - from the communication
between cells to perception of the world at large. The work of these scientists
has given us a science of the miraculous, of the things that we have
intuitively understood, but could never before prove.
We are all connected
If we, on our most
fundamental level, are packets of quantum energy constantly exchanging
information with this heaving energy sea, it means that all of us connect with
each other and the world at the level of the very undercoat of our being. It
also means that we have the power to access much more information about the
world than we realize. These scientists have moved our understanding along the
furthest reaches of human potential and have shown that extrasensory abilities
are present in every human being. If we can understand this potential
scientifically, we might then learn how to systematically tap into it. This
would vastly improve every area of our lives - from communication and
self-knowledge to our interaction with our material world.
To 'live The Field', you
will learn how to extend your human abilities, which may help you to
shape your own experiences, improve
your job, heal yourself, and use the power of individual and
collective intention to improve
your community and the future of the planet. Powerful intention
The findings of these
scientists demonstrate that human intention is a powerful energy - as owerful as an electric current - and that our thoughts and
intentions can influence our world.
COMMENT
From The Point of view of
The Buddhism of The Mystic Law The Zero Point Field is still information , This
information is of a biological nature as all information in the Universe is
living. And these patterns in the macrocosm of the Universe are mirrored in the
microcosm of the universe wher each Human Being is a
hologram of the Greater Whole. This is why the Supremacy of the Human Psyche is
dignified in this way!! The Myo or Nam Myoho Renge Kyo
or Mystic Law encompasses all information in the Universe .
Is the heart and cvore of all information and
transcends it as it is the integrative consciousness itself or more the liveness which enfolds the manifest and unmanifest
and is therefore at the highest Cosmic Infinite state of Enlightenment
Deepak
Chopra says that we are entrained by consensual reality .
However without these preconceptions pure awareness (-the profound attribute of
Sages , Rishis and Buddhas ) . is fused with the
fundamental process of the Universe which is same mind stuff which fills our
heads. So--He sees Human beings as being able to create reality like Gods
making the unmanifest Manifest.
Ken
Wilbur as an Integral Trans personal psychologist sees the human domain of
consciousness as being intimately tied to 4 quadrants based on Interior individual,
interior collective ( Left Quadrant ) and Exterior Individual , exterior
collective ( Right Quadrant)
He says
But the
cultural approaches to consciousness point out that individual consciousness
does not, and cannot, arise on its own. All subjective events are always
already intersubjective events. There is no private
language; there is no radically autonomous consciousness. The very words we are
both now sharing were not invented by you or me
He has a very evolutionary view of consciousness. The
individual is a product of the cultural context he-she is in. Rudimentary
culture leads to a rudimentary individual.
Consciousness exists in the Objective ,
cultural or the we mode and the objective and empirical mode but they are
inextricably bound in evolutionary holons. This also
means aim inhibited behaviour in an individual
precludes higher attainments in Consciousness experience --the prerogative of
developed Sages !!
So in his evolutionary quadrants he defines the great chain
of being which evolves into the higher consciousness transpersonal planetary
overarching form of being.
He says
We started
with Emptiness, creativity, holons. Or Spirit, creativity, holons. In
other words, out of Emptiness, holons creatively
emerge. As they emerge, they evolve. This evolution, or Spirit-in-action, has
certain features in common wherever it appears. These common features are
summarized as the twenty tenets. These are the powers of manifestation.
For example, we
saw that all holons have four basic capacities -
agency and communion, self-transcendence and self-dissolution. Because of the
self-transcending drive, new holons emerge. As they
emerge, they emerge holarchically. They transcend and
include. Cells transcend and include molecules, which transcend and include
atoms, and so on.
Likewise, the
self-transcending drive of the Kosmos produces holons of greater and greater depth. And we saw that the
greater the depth of a holon, the
greater its degree of consciousness, among other things. But greater depth also
means more things can go wrong. Dogs get cancer, atoms don't. There is a dialectic of progress at every turn - hardly a
sweetness-and-light affair.
Holons not only have an inside and outside, they
also exist as individuals and collectives. This means that every holon
has four faces, which we called the four quadrants: intentional, behavioral, cultural,
and social. Since each of these four quadrants deals with a different aspect of
holons, each of them has a different type of truth, a
different validity claim. We saw these as truth, truthfulness, justness, and
functional
COMMENT
The problem here is that
1
it is a reductive analysis. It goes from smaller to larger overarching holons.
2
It states consciousness is rudimentary until evolved. Humans create God as they
evolve to superconsciousness
3
It has no place for a universe grounded in love and compassion as this is an
evolutionary result
4
Although consciousness distributed in the 4 quadrants would seem to be non localised his theory is eminently Human oriented. It starts
and finishes in the human cortex or brain and mind
5
He does not discuss the subtle etheric life energy
forces implicit in the living universe
6
It is an arrogant thesis . Only certain Humans or
Things will gain that ultimate enlightenmnet
7
It is so Human oriented as to be an extremely
anthropomorphic theory.
He says
Since the two
objective and exterior dimensions - the Right-Hand quadrants - can be described
in objective it-language, we simplified the four quadrants to the Big Three: I,
we, and it. Studied, for example in self, morals, and
science. Or art (self and self-expression), ethics, and
objectivity. The Beautiful, the Good, and the True.
In the Spiritual domains: Buddha, Sangha, Dharma -
the ultimate I, the ultimate We and the ultimate It.
We could
simplify the Big Three even further. The Left-Hand dimensions (the I and the we) can only be accessed by introspection and
interpretation, whereas the Right-Hand delivers itself up to perception and
empiricism - and those are the Left and Right-Hand paths. That is, the
Right-Hand aspects are the exteriors of holons, and
so they can be seen empirically. But the intentional and cultural - the
Left-Hand quadrants-involve interior depth that can only be accessed by
interpretation. Interpretation means, in the broadest sense, empathic resonance
from within, as opposed to objective staring from without. Surfaces can be seen,
but depth must be interpreted. And those are the Right and Left-Hand paths. -- Ken Wilbur - A Brief History of Everything
